The EU RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) limits the maximum allowable levels of substances such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants to specified limits based on percentage and/or parts per million (ppm) within materials used in electrical equipment and electronic devices. In order for manufactures to sell or legally import into the European Union, manufacturers and importers are responsible for providing evidence of due diligence.
