Nigeria – Regulatory Approval Procedure Updates

The regulatory approval for wireless technology products for Nigeria is governed by the National Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and closely follows the CE Marking regulations for EU regulatory approval.  All equipment with communication capabilities and that can be connected to a communication network in Nigeria require Type Approval.

Recently there have been a few updates in the Nigerian Type Approval procedure , including sample requirements and family approval.

  • Samples – One (1) sample should be provided for notebooks, tablets and mobile phones. For any other equipment type, a sample can be requested at any time.
  • Family applications – The NCC now accepts applications for models that come in series and or families. NCC will permit up to 12 models on a single certificate. In this case, the devices should share the same test report.
