Recently, the Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA) published updated Type Approval Regulations, including new labeling instructions.

According to the Regulation, any equipment used or to be used in connection with the provision of radio communications, unless explicitly exempted by ATRA, is subject to Type Approval by ATRA.
This provision includes, but it is not limited to the following equipment:
- Fixed Radio Transmitters
- Mobile Terminal Equipment
- Broadcasting Equipment
- Satellite Transmitter Equipment
- Frequency dependent Medical Equipment and Devices
- Short Range Radio Devices
