India – TEC Announces MTCTE Phases III and IV

The Telecommunications Engineering Center (TEC) in India will enforce mandatory approval requirements for products in the Phase III of MTCTE from July 1, 2022. The latest TEC announcement on September 22, 2021 also states that applications will be accepted starting October 11, 2021.

Products covered under Phase III are:

  • Base station for cellular network
  • Repeater for cellular network
  • Compact cellular network
  • Smart/CCTV camera
  • Smart watch
  • Smart electricity meter
  • Tracking device
  • IoT gateway
  • End point device for environmental monitoring
  • Equipment operating in 2.4 GHz and 5GHz band

A total of 37 products are covered under Phase IV of MTCTE. For EMI/EMC and Safety – applications will be accepted starting October 11, 2021 and certification is mandatory starting February 1, 2022. For remaining ER parameters, applications will be accepted starting January 1, 2022 and certification is mandatory starting July 1, 2022.

Furthermore, the TEC announcement states extended acceptance of test reports from ILAC accredited labs for Phase I, II and II.

Phase I and Phase II– Extended to November 30, 2021
Phase III– Extended to June 30, 2022.
