Argentina – Update to Electrical Safety Certification

Argentina - ENACOM Updated Standard For Cellular Devices Now Allows 5G Approvals

On October 12, 2021, the Secretary of Commerce in Argentina published Resolution 1038/2021 to introduce several changes to the previous Resolution 169/2018 for Electrical Safety Certification.

The main changes are as follows:

Article 2 defines a new scope of electrical products under 50V that will require mandatory Electrical Safety Certification including:

From October 12th, 2021

  • Led lamps and led-mounted modules

From October 11th, 2022

  • Hand tools, transportable, and lawn and garden machinery, powered by electric motor
  • Manual products for skin and hair care (razors, massage equipment, among others
  • Household electrical kitchen equipment that performs the functions of heating, cutting, processing or blending food or beverages

Article 10 states the surveillance scheduling have been revised:

  • S-Type Certification Scheme (System No. 4) surveillances will be required every 6 months
  • S-Mark Certification Scheme (System No. 5) surveillances will be required every 12 months

The list of products subject to the mandatory S-Mark Scheme (System No. 5) has been updated and will be put into effect from July 8, 2022.
