On September 13, 2022, the Instituto Federal de las Telecomunicaciones (IFT) published ‘Technical Provision IFT-011-2022: Technical Specifications for Mobile Terminal Equipment that can make use of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. Part 3. Cellular Broadcasting Service for notification due to Risk or Emergency situations”.
The Technical Provision is applicable to cell phones and/or smart phones that can make use of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks, for the reception and processing of alert messages due to risk or emergency situations through the Broadcasting Service (CBS) for notification of Risk or Emergency situations.
IFT-011-2022 will enter into force on March 12, 2023, one hundred and eighty calendar days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
