On October 14, 2022, the Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes (ANATEL) published the new Act 13423 to extend the entry into force of Act 5159, making it mandatory after October 20, 2023. Previously Act 5159, was to take effect October 26, 2022 and established new assessment requirements for mobile phone chargers.
Per the release of the extension, from October 26, 2022 to October 20, 2023, charger manufacturers will be able to choose between the requirements approved by Act 3481/2019 (Old Act) or by the requirements approved by Act 5159/2022 (New Act).
