As a reminder, on September 13, 2022, the Instituto Federal de las Telecomunicaciones (IFT) released the Technical Provision IFT-011-2022: Technical Specifications for Mobile Terminal Equipment that can make use of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. Part 3. “Cellular Broadcasting Service for notification due to Risk or Emergency situations”.
This technical provision applies to cell phones and smart phones that can utilize the radio spectrum or be linked to telecommunications networks. It enables the reception and processing of alert messages for risk or emergency situations through the Broadcasting Service (CBS) for notification of Risk or Emergency situations.
IFT-011-2022 Part 3 became effective on March 12, 2023, and is now required for IFT approval of cell phones and smart phones.
