The Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has published an update that impacts a broad spectrum of license-exempt radio apparatus in Canada. The newly published Radio Standards Specification RSS-210, Issue 11, addresses Category I Equipment, a critical segment for numerous industries.

What’s New in RSS-210, Issue 11?

1. Broadened Equipment Scope:
The updated standard now includes certification requirements for a diverse array of devices including:

  • Momentarily operated and remote control devices
  • Medical telemetry and auditory assistance devices
  • Tracking and law enforcement tools
  • Family Radio Service (FRS), General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), and GMRS-Modified (GMRS-M)
  • Field disturbance sensors and speed radars
  • Wireless microphones and vehicle identification systems
  • Fixed point-to-point systems, high-capacity communication devices
  • Radars operating in the 57-71 GHz band
  • Wideband devices

2. Introduction of New Radar Limits and Bands:
One of the standout changes in Issue 11 is the introduction of new radar operational limits and bands, specifically within the 57-71 GHz range. This adjustment is poised to open up new opportunities and enhance the performance of existing technologies.

3. Inclusion of Wireless Multi channel Audio Systems (WMAS):
