ECC Opens 9 Public Consultations

European public consultations on statistical proposals provide a valuable platform for citizens, consumers, and businesses to influence policies directly impacting them. These consultations are designed to gather feedback on various statistical initiatives, allowing the European Union to gain insight into public perception and experiences with current policies.

On October 21, 2024, the Working Group Frequency Management (WG FM) of the Electronics Communications Committee (ECC) initiated several public consultations on critical updates to recommendations and decisions regarding spectrum management and device regulation in CEPT countries. These consultations, open until December 16, 2024, cover a wide array of communication technologies, from wireless power transmission to intelligent transport systems.

Key Consultations Include:

  1. Draft Revision of ECC Recommendation (04)01 – This document reaffirms the prohibition of signal jammers in CEPT countries to prevent interference with legitimate communications.

  2. Draft ECC Recommendation (25)01 – Focused on Wireless Power Transmission (WPT), this draft defines emission limit requirements to support safe and interference-free WPT deployment, particularly critical for electric vehicle charging and other WPT applications.

  3. ERC Recommendation 70-03, New Annex B – This annex provides an overview of legacy frequency bands that have been altered or removed from the main annexes, preserving historical references and aiding spectrum managers in tracking legacy band adjustments.

  4. ERC Recommendation 70-03 Revisions – Several annexes of Recommendation 70-03 have been updated, impacting radio frequency identification, radio microphones, assistive listening devices, tracking and data acquisition, and non-specific short-range devices, ensuring these recommendations align with current technological standards and usage patterns.

  5. Draft Revision of ECC Decision (08)01 – This focuses on the harmonized use of Safety-Related Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the 5875-5935 MHz frequency band, crucial for the development of safe, interoperable intelligent transport applications across Europe.

  6. Draft Revision of ERC Decision (99)06 – This document addresses satellite personal communication systems (S-PCS) operating below 1 GHz, ensuring harmonized and efficient use of these frequencies.

The ECC encourages stakeholders to provide their insights to help shape the future regulatory framework. For more information and to participate in the consultation process, please visit the ECC website.

Participate in Shaping Policy: By engaging in these consultations, participants can contribute their views, helping shape future European policies. Whether it’s opinions on data privacy, economic statistics, or health data collection, the feedback collected plays a crucial role in refining and adjusting policies to better align with public needs and concerns.

Explore Open and Closed Consultations:

  • Open Consultations: These are currently active and ready for public input. You can share your perspectives by taking part in an open consultation, voicing your support, concerns, or suggestions.

  • Closed Consultations: For consultations that have concluded, the results and findings are made available to the public, providing transparency and showcasing how public opinion has influenced policy decisions.

Your input is instrumental in helping the EU shape a more inclusive, responsive, and well-informed policy environment. Whether you’re a citizen, consumer, or business owner, taking part in these consultations ensures that your voice is heard in shaping the statistical landscape of Europe.
