A new regulation governing the homologation of radio and telecommunications equipment in Niger has officially come into force as of February 2025, following the publication of Decree No. 000/MCP/EN/SG/DL by the Ministry of Communication, Posts, and Digital Economy. This decree introduces a modernized compliance framework aimed at enhancing the oversight and technical integrity of electronic communications devices used within the country.
Key Updates
Validity of the Homologation Certificate

The validity period of homologation certificates has been reduced from 10 years to 3 years.

Existing certificates issued prior to February 2025 will remain valid until their originally assigned expiration dates.
Updated Certificate Format
To improve traceability and ensure comprehensive compliance, the homologation certificate will now include:

Name and address of both the manufacturer and importer

Frequencies intended for equipment usage

Specific usage conditions and limitations, if applicable
Fees and Charges

Fees apply for both the certification study and the issuance of the homologation certificate.

In addition, laboratory testing and technical verification costs now apply. Once the national laboratory is officially implemented.
Exemptions
The decree provides for specific exemptions from the certification requirement:

Portable devices used exclusively for sound broadcasting reception

Equipment designated for national defense and public safety
