Indonesia – SDPPI Recognition of Foreign Test Labs and Paperwork Acceptance for Telecommunication Devices

On July 12, 2019, a new regulation was issued from SDPPI, Number 159 of 2019, concerning Recognition of Foreign Test Labs for Telecommunication Devices. This regulation does NOT apply to HKT products such as Cellular Phones, Handheld Computers and Tablet Computers. The regulation will take effect 10 days after its publication on July 22, 2019.
This new regulation declares a list of International Laboratories that are recognized to issue test reports for non HKT products. The announcement of SDPPI Number 159 of 2019 can be downloaded here.

The recognition of the Foreign Test Labs is based on the following criteria:

  1. The laboratories have the ability to test telecommunication tools and/or equipment in accordance with technical requirements stipulated in Indonesia or their equal standard.
  2. Testing laboratories are accredited based on ISO/IEC 17025 which is accredited by the Accreditation Signing Agency for Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation – Mutual Recognition Agreement (APAC-MRA) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation-Mutual Recognition Agreement (ILAC-MRA), and
  3. They must have at least two proofs of accreditation and/or recognition from international institutions or telecommunications regulators of other countries.

The recognition of the Foreign Test Labs shall be valid for 6 (six) months started from its issuance.  The acceptance of these reports are sufficient for the certification process and no samples are required.
