Argentina – ENACOM Updated Standard For Cellular Devices Now Allows 5G Approvals

Argentina Resolution 237/2024

On December 5th 2023, ENACOM released Resolution 2097/2023 in order to implement an updated version of the Testing Standard for cellular devices. This version permits the ENACOM Homologation of 5G devices and includes 5G NR operation in the 3300–3700MHz allotted band.

The key points of the update are:

  • ENACOM-Q2-61.03 V23.1 – User Terminals for SCM (Mobile Communication Systems) & STeFI (Reliable and Intelligent Telecommunications Service) is the new testing standard for cellular devices 2G/3G/4G/5G.-A replacement for the ENACOM-Q2-61.03 V17.1 standard, which dealt with user terminals for mobile communication systems.-There is regulation over the new 5G NR 3300–3700MHz frequency range (Chapter V).
  • A grace period of ninety calendar days has been extended by ENACOM to new and existing applications with reports generated in accordance with the ENACOM-Q2-61.03 V17.1 old standard.
  • According to Articles 4° and 5°, ENACOM will permit the homologation of 5G technologies based on foreign RF reports and certificates (from organizations like the FCC, CE, ANATEL, etc.) for devices that are imported, or using a Declaration of Conformity for devices that are made locally, until at least two (two) accredited laboratories have received the necessary authorization to conduct 5G measurements.
  • For 2G, 3G, and 4G interfaces, ENACOM Resolution 4709/2018 is still in effect and permits international certification and reports to be used in conjunction with local testing.

The Resolution is in force as of December 5, 2023.
