Bermuda – RAB Grants Type Approval Exemption for Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Only Devices

Bermuda Bluetooth Wi-Fi exemption

As of February 14th, 2025, the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda has officially exempted Bluetooth and Wi-Fi only devices from the individual Type Approval application process, provided these devices operate strictly within the designated frequency ranges and power limits.

What This Means for Manufacturers and Importers

Devices using only Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi technology no longer need to go through the Type Approval process. However, compliance remains essential. Manufacturers and importers must ensure that their products meet all technical and regulatory standards mandated by the following international bodies:

  • FCC – Federal Communications Commission (USA)
  • ISED – Innovation, Science and Economic Development (Canada)
  • ETSI – European Telecommunications Standards Institute (UK/EU)

This includes proper markings and labeling to ensure lawful operation within Bermuda.

A table with detailed frequency ranges, maximum output power, and applicable IEEE standards is provided below to guide compliance.
