ANATEL, the authority in charge for approving telecommunications equipment in Brazil, has published ACT NO. 2221 regarding labeling requirements and the new use of e-labeling for telecommunications products. The new procedures are a result of Resolution 715, as mentioned in our November blog.
All ANATEL approved devices must use one of the following labeling practices:
- The ANATEL Seal, according to criteria in the Resolution.
- The expression “ANATEL” followed by the approval code.
- Electronic identification (e-label), according to criteria in the Resolution.
- The product must have instruction on how to access the e-label, without the need for specific codes or passwords.
- Instructions for accessing the e-label must be provided in either the manual or quick guide pamphlet.
- Instructions for accessing the e-label can be made available on the product’s packaging or website.
- When the e-label is applied directly to the product, identification on the product packaging is also required.
The new labeling requirements take affect April 22, 2020.
