Brazil – Updated Technical Requirements for Mobile Phone and ETA

The National Telecommunication Agency of Brazil (ANATEL) issued ACT 209 on January 14, 2019 to provide updated technical requirements for assessing the conformity of Cellular Mobile Telephone and Terminal Access Terminal – ETA. Tables 1 and 2 of Annex 1 describe the minimum features for the process of assessment showing the Normative Document, Applicable Requirements and Test Procedures. The full Act can be viewed here.

The technologies included in the amendment are as follows:

  • Global mobile satellite service – SGMS
  • Personal mobile services including all cellular and IoT technologies
  • Mobile services in Point – Multipoint Applications
  • Fixed telephone service STFC with wireless access

REQUIREMENTS APPLICABLE TO ALL TECHNOLOGIES
a) Technical Requirements for Electromagnetic Compatibility for the Evaluation of Product Conformity for Telecommunications. Act No. 1120 of February 19, 2018 . – In full, in what is applicable, except item 6.1.1.2 of the emission requirements of radiated electromagnetic disturbances. – see notes III, IV and V.
b) Technical Requirements of Electrical Safety for Evaluation of the Conformity of Products for Telecommunications. Act No. 950, of February 8, 2018 . – In full, as far as applicable. – see notes III, IV and IX.
c) Annex to Resolution No. 700 of September 28, 2018 – Regulation on the Evaluation of the Human Exposure to Electric, Magnetic and Electromagnetic Fields Associated with the Operation of Radio Communication Stations.
