The “Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones” or SUBTEL, the authority for approving telecommunications equipment in Chile, has just modified regulations for WLAN and BT. SUBTEL will now allow up to 1W maximum power output, which is a considerable increase from the previous 150mW allowance.
Other note worthy changes include:
- Band 5725-5850MHz now has the same value for outdoor and indoor devices at 1W. Previously, the outdoor operation had to be 50mW.
- Band 5150-5250MHz is still restricted to indoor only, but now the limit is 200mW instead of 150mW.
These are important changes and great news for Chile’s telecommunication regulations as they effect type approval for 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices.
