On March 16, 2023, the State Administration of Market Regulation of the People’s Republic of China released the announcement titled “No. 10 of 2023” which mandates the implementation of Compulsory Certification Management for Lithium-ion Batteries and other related products.
The announcement mandates that the CCC certification management be enforced on the following:
- lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in electronic and electrical products
- mobile power supplies
- power adapters/chargers used in telecom terminal products
However, only lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for portable electronic products require CCC certification at this stage. The requirements for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in other electronic and electrical products will be announced later.
From August 1, 2023, the designated certification authority will start accepting the CCC application for newly included products in the mandatory CCC list. By August 1, 2024, any products that have not obtained the CCC certificate and mark will not be permitted to be delivered, sold, imported, or used in other business activities.
