China – CCC Updated Safety and EMC Standards

The China Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) has announced new Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards for products.

Safety Standards
The old Safety GB Standards GB 8898-2011 (AV) and GB 4943.1-2011 (ITE) are replaced by the new GB 4943.1-2022 standard. The new standard is harmonized with the IEC 62368-1:2018 (3rd Edition) and applies to Audio/Video (AV) and Information Technology Equipment (ITE). The new standard will be implemented on August 1, 2023.

EMC Standards
The old EMC GB Standards GB/T 13837-2012 (AV) and GB/T 9254-2008 (ITE), are replaced by the new GB/T 9254.1-2021 standard. The new standard is harmonized with the CISPR 32:2015 and applies to AV and ITE products. The new standard was implemented on July 1, 2022.

Manufacturers products intending to sell their products in China should take note of these new standards and ensure that their products comply with them to avoid any regulatory issues. It is important to update CCC certificates to the new EMC/Safety GB standards no later than July 31, 2024.
