On October 13, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China released a Notice about IPv6 test requirement for WLAN devices, as related to SRRC approval.
- Wireless LAN devices intended for sale and use within China, which offer public IP address allocation capabilities, must incorporate support for the IPv6 protocol.
- IPv6-enabled wireless LAN devices should, by default, facilitate IPv6 address allocation while preserving the option for users to manually configure IPv6 address allocation settings. Additionally, product descriptions must include specifications for the IPv6 configuration method.
- This directive will take effect on December 1, 2023. Wireless LAN devices manufactured or imported prior to this date may continue to be sold and utilized until they are no longer operational.
