On December 3, 2023, decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) No. 154 of October 31, 2023 comes into force. It modifies the lists of standards required to adhere to TR CU 017/2011 “On the safety of light industry products” requirements. The lists of standards that were approved by the EEC Board’s No. 180 decision on December 22, 2020, are being modified.
The inclusion of new GOST items to both nomenclatures is the primary change. Ten interstate standards are therefore included in the list of standards that specify safety criteria for light industrial items. GOST regulations apply to a variety of items, including decorative canvas, non-woven fabric, waist belts, watch straps, and leather used in clothing, footwear, and furnishings. There will be 21 new things added to the list of test methods.
It contains standards for cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, and lead; hexane, heptane, acetaldehyde, acetone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, methanol, isopropanol, acrylonitrile, n-propanol, butyl acetate, isobutanol, n-butanol, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, styrene, and α-methylstyrene in aqueous extracts; acetaldehyde in the air; methyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol by gas chromatography in air; toxicity index, etc.
Furthermore, until July 1, 2024, both lists include a short application time for particular criteria. This pertains to national standards that are “outdated.” GOST-R 55857-2013, for instance, describes “Quilted blankets and bedspreads.” Standard of Belarus STB 753-2000 “Pillows. General technical conditions”, GOST-R 50721-94 “Knit goods and textiles. Techniques for identifying the kind and mass percentage of raw materials, Kazakhstani Standard ST RK ISO 8288-2005 “Quality of water. measurement of lead, cadmium, zinc, nickel, copper, and cobalt. Atomic absorption spectrometric techniques in flames, etc.
