On February 10, 2025, Egypt’s Ministry of Trade and Industry issued Ministerial Decree No. 7/2025, initiating a six-month transitional period for manufacturers and importers to align with the newly adopted Egyptian Standard ES 2501-1.
This updated standard addresses safety requirements for electrical and electronic equipment in sectors such as audio, video, ICT, and office machinery, covering devices with a rated voltage up to 600 V.
ES 2501-1 aligns Egypt’s regulatory framework with international norms by incorporating the technical content of IEC 62368-1:2023, a globally recognized safety standard. It replaces the former ES 2501/2016, providing manufacturers with modernized guidelines that reflect current technology and international safety expectations.
Industry stakeholders are encouraged to begin the transition process promptly to ensure compliance within the designated timeframe.
