ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 Becomes Mandatory August 6, 2021

ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 Becomes Mandatory August 6, 2021

Reminder, starting August 6, 2021, data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM radio band must meet the requirements ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2, per the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). The 2.4 GHz band is used for technologies such as 2.4 GHz WLAN, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and more.

Main changes of ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 are:

  • Updated requirements for receiver blocking measurements
  • Limit change for the transmitter unwanted emissions in the spurious domain for the band 694 MHz – 862 MHz
  • The definitions for the receiver categories 1 to 3 have been more clearly defined

What should manufacturers do now?

The transition period for ETSI EN 300 328 V2.1.1 ends on August 5, 2021. Until then, all products tested according to V2.1.1 can still be marketed, but after this transitional period, products placed on the market must meet the requirements of the new version ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2.

For all new approvals, it is necessary to perform tests according to the requirements of V2.2.2, products that do not comply with V2.2.2 after August 6, 2021 cannot be marketed.

    Hello,

I have a question regarding Automotive ECU we have developed for Volkswagen AG, but now we are not sure, if it is mandatory also for us, however this new unit contains BLE as a digital key carrier, but it is not a stand-alone device you can buy. It comes pre-installed in cars directly from the assembly line of Volkswagen.
So my question is, if it should be also tested according ETSI300328 V2.2.2, and if so, must be tested as a component, or is it possible to test it as a part of the car (to measure it installed in car directly)?

How can we proceed in this case? This ECU does not have any display or user-friendly parts.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards
