On October 19, 2023, the Federal Communications Commission approved regulations with the goal of increasing the use of flexible spectrum between 3.7 and 24 GHz. The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit remanded certain cases, which are addressed in these regulations (Docket Numbers 18-295 and 17-183).
In particular, an extra class of unlicensed devices in the 6 GHz spectrum is allowed by the established rules. The goal of this action is to improve the mid-band spectrum’s use for a variety of applications.
