India has announced that Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunications Equipment (MTCTE) has launched Phase I and began accepting applications on July 9, 2019.
Beginning October 1st, 2019, the following devices will be mandatory to apply for TEC:
I. Telecom equipment under SCS
- 2- Wire Telecom Equipment
- Modem
- G3 Fax Machine
- ISDN CPE
II. Telecom Equipment under GCS
- Cordless telephone
- PABX
The schedule for mandatory testing and certification for all other equipment shall be announced in the future. The MTCTE procedure will be revised until March 31, 2020, allowing for test reports from ILAC approved labs. These certificates issued will be valid for a 2 year period. Labeling requirements are also temporarily exempted for six months as of October 2019.
