India – TEC Extension of Certification Deadline for 12 Products Under MTCTE Phase III and IV

On December 27, 2023, The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) issued an Amendment Notification that extends the mandatory certification date for 12 products (ERs) notified under Phase III and Phase IV of MTCTE.

This Notification is a modification to Notification no. 5-2/2021-TC/TEC/131 and no. 5-2/2021-TC/TEC/172, dated June 23,2023 and September 27, 2023.

The highlights are listed below.

• The mandatory certification date for 12 out of 44 products under MTCTE Phase-III and IV has been extended by three months, i.e. from January 1, 2024 until April 1, 2024.
  • Phase III products under the extension:Base Station for cellular network
    Repeater for Cellular Network
    Smart Electricity Meter
  • Phase IV products under the extension:SIM
    HF Radio
    Mobile Radio Trunking System
    VHF UHF Radio System Equipment
    PTP PMP Microwave Fixed Radio System
    LAN Switch
    Router
    IP Security Equipment
    Satellite Communication Equipment
• Extension for the last date for accepting test reports from labs accredited by International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) signatories, from non-border sharing countries, has been extended by three months for technical parameters only. Extended from December 31, 2023 until March 31, 2024 for 08 products (ERs) mentioned in Annexure-III:
  • Base Station for cellular network
  • Repeater for Cellular Network
  • Compact Cellular Network
  • SIM
  • HF Radio
  • VHF UHF Radio System Equipment
  • Radio Broadcast Receiver RBR
  • Satellite Communication Equipment
• The mandatory date of certification for the remaining 32 products (ERs) shall remain unchanged; the deadline is January 1, 2024.
