Indonesia – SDPPI Update: Public Consultation Regarding SAR Testing Implementation

KOMINFO Updates 5G and LTE

On August 28th, 2023, the Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Information Technology (SDPPI) published an official announcement to open public consultation regarding SAR testing implementation for telecommunication equipment certification.

In our previous blog, we published an announcement regarding the timeline of SAR test implementation as a telecommunication equipment certification requirement in SDPPI. Currently, there is an ongoing process of formulating a Draft Ministerial Decree by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. This draft aims to establish regulations pertaining to the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Limit applicable to both Telecommunications Equipment and Telecommunications Devices. The proposed content of this decree encompasses SAR thresholds, standards for testing methods, categories of equipment bound by SAR assessment requirements, phases for implementing SAR responsibilities, and strategies for certification.

SDPPI is seeking input from stakeholders, including telecommunications equipment vendors, telecommunications equipment testing laboratories, academics and the general public to provide input on the plan for implementing the mandatory SAR testing of telecommunications equipment.

The official announcement can be accessed here. Feedback should be submitted within 14 days of this announcement.
