MIC Guideline for Use of the US and European Standards Test Data for 2.4GHz Band

Following a public consultation held in 2023, The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in Japan has published “The Guideline for Utilization of the US and European Standards Test Data for 2.4GHz band wireless LAN and similar technologies”.

The main purpose of the guideline includes:

(1) Clarify the items and conditions of the US and European Standards test data required to confirm that the test was conducted by a test method equivalent or superior to the method indicated in the public notices, regarding the items for which the US and European Standards test data can be accepted.

(2) Clarify the items and conditions of test data for private certifications required to confirm that the test was conducted by a testing method that is equivalent or superior to the method indicated in the public notices, regarding the items for which test data for private certifications can be utilized.

The official guidance document marks a significant step towards streamlining regulatory processes for manufacturers. By providing clarity on the acceptance criteria for US and European Standards test data, as well as test data for private certifications, the guideline facilitates smoother compliance procedures.
