IFETEL Annual Closure Dates

On August 4, 2023, the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFETEL) opened a public consultation on the “Draft Guidelines for the use of the IFT Seal of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications in products, equipment, devices or apparatus for approved telecommunications or broadcasting”. The main objective is to add an easily recognizable graphic element to the marking or labeling i.e., the IFT logo.

Main highlights of the Guidelines include:

  • Adding the IFT Seal, which consists of the graphic logo, the letters “ift” in lower case
  • The abbreviations “IFT” in capital letters and the Homologation Certificate Number
  • The IFT Seal must be printed in 100% positive black or 100% negative black, respecting the protection areas and minimum printing dimensions as defined in the Guidelines
  • It will be prohibited to use the IFT Seal:
    • When there is no current Approval Certificate issued by the Institute Verification and Surveillance Chapter VI that covers the Products in question;
    • With specifications other than those provided for in these guidelines;
    • When the Product Approval Certificate is suspended and/or revoked correspondent;
    • In Products that are not subject to approval;
    • For any other purpose other than what is stipulated in these guidelines.

Products that received approval before the implementation of the Guidelines, as well as products already undergoing the certification process, would not be subject to these requirements.

Through this open consultation, IFT strives to collect input aimed at enhancing the proposal and comprehending its possible effects prior to execution. The consultation may be accessed here and will be open for comments until October 2, 2023.
