The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced the procedure for new applications and renewal applications for Cellular Booster Equipment. The updates pertain to the Technical Codes for MCMC MTSFB TC T019:2021: IMT-2020 (Fifth Generation) – Cellular Booster Equipment and MCMC MTSFB TC T018:2021: Global System for Mobile Communications and Long-Term Evolution – Cellular Booster Equipment, established in August 2021.
For new applications, all GSM, LTE and 5G Cellular Booster Equipment that are to be imported and distributed in Malaysia must be certified in compliance with these new Technical Codes. Applications that meet the requirements of the technical codes will be granted full approval and are allowed a maximum validity period of 5 years.
Renewal application for existing approval of GSM, LTE and 5G Cellular Booster Equipment is no longer allowed and existing applications are expired effective immediately. A new application is required, and it shall meet the new technical code requirements for Cellular Booster Equipment.
