Starting from June 1, 2025, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced a significant policy change impacting users of Fixed-Satellite Service Earth Stations and Ultra-Wideband Communication Devices operating within the 3400 MHz – 3700 MHz frequency band. This update follows the cancellation of the class assignment previously allowed under section 169 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Effective from the stipulated date, the operation of any equipment or devices within this specific frequency range will no longer be permissible in Malaysia. This directive affects all entities utilizing these frequency bands for fixed-satellite communications and ultra-wideband communications. Additionally, from this date forward, equipment and devices operating in the 3400-3700 MHz band will no longer be able to apply for approval or be used in Malaysia.
