The Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) has recently updated importer requirements for Certificate of Approval (CoA), Product Certification License (PCL) and Product Certification Scheme (PCS). Certificate holders for CoA, PCL and PCS must now be a local importer in Malaysia. Previously, PCL and PCS licenses could be held by factories and manufacturers.
SIRIM will now reject all new applications and renewals for PCL and PCS applications if the applicant is not a local importer. For all certificates previously approved under the factory or manufacturer as the holder, the certificates will need to be renewed under a local importer at the time of expiration.
