Malaysia: Wireless Microphone Changes Effective July 2018

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced it will be cancelling the Class Assignment issued under Section 169 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for certain wireless microphones.  The Public Notice document issued by MCMC can be viewed here. Wireless microphone devices operating in the frequency range of 694 MHz to 798 MHz will no longer be allowed. The cancellation will become effective on July 1, 2018.

The 700MHz to 800MHz frequency band will be reallocated for mobile broadband and LTE (4G), therefore using LTE and wireless microphones in the same band will cause disruption to both devices. Please note that wireless microphones can still be operated in the country but they must use the other bands already allocated to them, which include the 2400MHz to 2500MHz and 470MHz to 694MHz.

The purchase and importing of any new wireless microphone devices operating in the 694 MHz to 798 MHz frequency band is not encouraged.
