The Information & Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) in Mauritius has released Government Notice No. 164 of 2019 (Clearance to Import ICT Equipment). The new regulations came into operation on October 1, 2019 and set the guidelines to import ICT Equipment based on the purpose of importation (commercial use versus non-commercial use) and the product type.
ICTA has published the list of categories on there website as the following:
-List of Prohibited Equipment List of Prohibited Equipment
– List of ICT equipment intended for selling, exposing or offering for sale or hire under a valid dealers’ licence for which a clearance to import is subject to a type approval certificate
– List of ICT equipment intended for selling, exposing or offering for sale or hire under a valid dealers’ licence for which a clearance to import is subject to a Declaration of compliance only
– List of ICT equipment intended for professional use such as Private Mobile Radio and Maritime VHF Radio, for corporate private networks such as outdoor access points and for public operator networks such as Radio Base Stations, for which clearance to import is subject to a type approval certificate and licence to operate
– List of ICT equipment for non-commercial purposes, which may be subject to verification, (including for personal use and for offering as gifts) but for which no licence and no type approval certificate is required
– List of free entry ICT equipment for non-commercial purposes (including for personal use and for offering as gifts) for which no licence and no type approval certificate is required
– List of ICT equipment intended for selling, exposing or offering for sale or hire under a valid dealers’ licence for which a clearance to import is not subject to a type approval certificate or a declaration of compliance
