The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has updated the exemption list for devices subject to mandatory Type Approval.
The following equipment is exempted in terms of Regulation 16 of the Regulations in respect of Telecommunications Equipment Requiring Type Approval, 2023. However, it is important to note that all telecommunications equipment exempted from type approval must receive an exemption letter and be entered on the CRAN type approval exemption register.
Any previous exemption letters prior to the new Regulation are still valid, however, customs officials may request for a more recent letter. Manufacturers are encouraged to apply for the latest exemption letter in accordance with the new 2023 regulation.
