The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia has updated the technical specifications for communications and information technology equipment and devices for Saudi Arabia Radio Type Approval. The updated Regulations are in effect as of July 20, 2021.
General requirements defined in the new Regulations must be met by all radio and telecommunications devices and equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, information and communication technology devices, radio transmitting equipment, IT devices, modules and any equipment/device that uses any technology mentioned in the technical specifications published by CITC.
Requirements for Radio Modules are defined in Document No. Gen003, which specifies the requirements for radio transmitter modules; equipment consisting of the combination of two or more products where at least one of them is a radio equipment. It covers multi-radio, combined radio and nonradio equipment. Manufacturers may choose to certify each module contained in a device with multiple certificates or choose to certify the end device with one certificate.
Please note that for products certified prior to the new Regulations, there is no need to update the current valid certificate as long as the product has not changed. In addition, any application submitted before the enforcement date will be treated in accordance to the old Technical Standards.
As many devices may contain more than one technology, we strongly recommend you contact our iCertifi Approval Team to ensure your device complies with all of the CITC certification for market approval for Saudi Arabia market access.
