Saudi Arabia – SASO’s New Standard for Unified Charging Ports

Saudi Arabia CST

The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) has introduced a new regulation standardizing charging ports for smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices sold in the Kingdom. The regulation mandates that manufacturers adopt either the USB Type-C or USB Power Delivery standards specified in SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2017 for charging ports on new models of portable electronics.
