Saudi Arabia – SASO Switch to the SABER Platform

CST IoT compliance

SASO has announced the final switch to the SABER platform. The SABER platform was initially launched by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) through the Saudi Product Safety Program named (SALEEM) on January 1, 2019.

Previously, product shipments to Saudi for certain types of electronics-electrical equipment had to be registered under the Saudi Product Agency SASO in order to achieve customs clearance. Starting January 15, 2020 conformity assessment bodies shall cease to register the CoC and no shipment will enter Saudi Arabia unless it has the required certifications via SABER.

It has also been confirmed that a physical factory audit is now required starting from January 2020 – this must be a SASO-specific audit and will assess various criteria including Incoming Materials Inspection, Product Assurance, Product Test Plan and Resource Management. ISO 9001 certification is no longer sufficient.
