The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) published SASO RoHS requirements in the Official Gazette on July 9, 2021. The Regulation will be implemented in a roll out phase with Telecommunication and Information Technology Equipment, taking effect December 31, 2022. Products in this category will be required to prove compliance to the RoHS Regulation as a part of Saudi Arabia’s approval requirements.
Products placed on the market before the implementation dates are allowed a grace period and can sell for 365 days. After that time period, they must comply with the Regulation or they will be recalled. It is important to note that as a part of SASO certification, the validity period is one year.
