Sierra Leone - Labeling Requirements

The “National Telecommunications Commission” or NATCOM is the authority in charge for approving telecommunications equipment in Sierra Leone.

All telecommunication devices should carry the logo as described below, to meet NATCOM labeling requirements.

Consistent with Section 9 (2) of the Electronic Communications Regulations 2020, every supplier, importer, distributor or seller shall, where applicable, ensure that equipment offered for sale or for private use is clearly affixed with the type approval label containing the following:

i. The logo of the commission,
ii. The product type/category; and
iii. A unique Type Approval Number.

The label should be affixed on equipment, however, if the equipment is too small for this label, it is permitted to be affixed as below:
– label shall be part of the operating software or program known as “Regulatory Certification”
– or shall be part of the documentations of the equipment.

TAN= Type Approval Number
YYYY= Year of Certification (Four digits)
PCN= Product Category Number (Three digits)
UTAN= Unique Type Approval Number (Four digits)
