Singapore – Changes to Applicable Standards for Medium-Risk Controlled Goods

IMDA Important Updates on 3G Network Cessation

On May 31, 2022, the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) released Circular CPSO-310522-05. This circular updates the safety standards that are required for medium risk Controlled Goods, regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR).

Categories of Controlled Goods includes household electrical, electronics and gas appliances and accessories. Controlled Goods are required to be tested and certified to specified safety standards, registered with the CPSO and affixed with the Safety Mark before they can be supplied in Singapore.

The new requirements will have the following effective dates:
• From June 1, 2024 – for new registrations of Controlled Goods
• From June 1, 2025 – for renewal of registration

Beginning from these effective dates, type test reports from older editions will not be accepted as supporting documentation for new registration or renewal.
