Singapore – IMDA Publishes Decision on the Allocation of the 6GHz Band

IMDA Important Updates on 3G Network Cessation

On May 12, 2023, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) published an announcement regarding the allocation of the 6 GHz band in Singapore. This decision comes after a thorough consideration of public comments and views gathered during the consultation period that opened on February 14, 2023.

IMDA has taken a significant stride towards enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity in Singapore by allocating an additional 500 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band. This allocation not only complements Singapore’s Nationwide Broadband Network (NBN) and 5G mobile networks but also paves the way for the deployment of the latest Wi-Fi 6E technology.

Timeline for Wi-Fi 6E in Singapore

IMDA will amend its Regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore.
