TEC has just published a notification outlining the mandatory certification of telecom equipment. As mentioned in our previous blog, the Government of India Ministry of Communications, Department of Telecommunications will begin a progressive roll-out schedule of devices that will require TEC mandatory approval.
According to the latest notification, the following telecom equipment imported or sold into India on or after January 1, 2019 shall be subject to TEC certification and testing:
- Modem
- Audio Conferencing Equipment
- Telephone Instrument
- Fax Machines
- Satellite Equipment
- WiFi Access Points
- Microwave, UHF and VHF Equipment
- Cordless Phone
The following telecom equipment imported or sold into India on or after January 4, 2019 shall be subject to TEC certification and testing:
- DSL Equipment
- Media Gateway
- Mobile Devices
- Router
- Compact Cellular Network
The mandatory testing and certification will follow the “Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment” (MTCTE Procedure). Requirements for certification and testing procedures, labeling guidelines, list of exempted devices and other details are provided in the MTCTE Procedure.
