Thailand – NBTC Technical Standards for 5.925-6.425GHz (WIFI 6E) Approval

On April 28, 2023, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) published NBTC TU 1039 – 2566 which defines the approval requirements for radiocommunication equipment using the frequency band 5.925 – 6.425 GHz (WiFi 6E). Required approval will be NBTC sDoC.

Required test reports:
1) RF test report based on FCC Part 15.407 (ETSI EN is not acceptable): Below are required test clauses:
1.1 Maximum output power:

Note: In case of approval outdoor equipment, test report with output power 250 mW e.i.r.p. will be rejected. NBTC require test reports with 25 mW e.i.r.p..
1.2 Maximum power spectral density:

1.3 Channel Bandwidth
1.4 Undesirable emissions limits: out of band emissions
1.5 In-band emissions (emission mask)
1.6 Contention based protocol
Remark: Access point with output power over 25 mW (e.i.r.p.) but not over 250 mW (e.i.r.p.) shall not be with battery powered source

2) EMF or SAR test report (For indoor/outdoor use with output power 25 mW, it can be exempted to EMF/SAR test report)
3) Electrical safety test report e.g. IEC60950-1 or IEC62368-1 or TIS 62368-1

If a product, such as a mobile phone with 4G/5G and Wi-Fi, has been previously approved under class A or class B without 6GHz capability, and the product will now include 6GHz Wi-Fi, the NBTC will require a new type approval certificate. Additionally, the model number must be changed to differentiate it from the original model number.

For products that were approved without 6GHz under Sdoc, such as Wi-Fi with 2.4 and 5GHz, adding 6GHz Wi-Fi requires a new Sdoc from the NBTC. However, the model number can remain the same as the original model number.
