UAE – Mandatory Certification for EV Charging Equipment Begins May 2025

UAE EV Chargers

Starting May 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will enforce mandatory certification for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging and supply equipment systems. This move aligns with the UAE’s ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability in its fast-growing electric mobility sector.

Under the new regulation, all EV chargers must comply with the UAE.S 2698 standard and be certified through the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS). This ensures that charging systems meet essential safety and performance benchmarks before entering the UAE market.

Manufacturers and importers can begin the certification process immediately. Early engagement can prevent delays and ensure market readiness ahead of the enforcement date.
